A Night of Music and Giving: LAA's Benefit Concert for Texas Girls and Boys Ranch

Community,

On the 9th of this month, the Lubbock Apartment Association (LAA) hosted an unforgettable evening at Cook's Garage in Lubbock, Texas. This event wasn't just any concert; it was a benefit concert aimed at supporting the Texas Girls and Boys Ranch, a cause close to our hearts.

Venue and Atmosphere

Cook's Garage, known for its vibrant atmosphere and capacity to host concerts and rodeos, was the perfect backdrop for our event. The venue buzzed with excitement and a sense of community as LAA members and their guests gathered to enjoy a casual evening filled with great music and delicious food. The highlight of the culinary experience was the fajitas with all the fixings, accompanied by an open bar.

Musical Performances

The evening started with "The Local Nobodies," a talented two-guitar band that set the stage with captivating cover songs. But the night's highlight was headliner Cory Morrow, who not only enthralled the audience with his musical prowess but also shared his inspiring journey to finding Jesus Christ amidst his chaotic musical career.

Fundraising and Community Impact

A significant event component was the silent auction, which raised almost a thousand dollars. The most sought-after item was a hunting trip to Argentina, reflecting our community's spirit of adventure and generosity. The funds raised are earmarked for providing clothing, school supplies, and holiday gifts for the children at the Texas Girls and Boys Ranch, making a tangible difference in their lives.

Organizational Efforts and Gratitude

This event, our first concert of its kind, was quickly put together by the dedicated efforts of the LAA Board of Directors. Their commitment and volunteer spirit were instrumental in turning this idea into a successful reality. We extend our heartfelt thanks to each member who contributed to this cause.

Reflections and Looking Ahead

As the Marketing Director of LAA and an attendee, I found the event enjoyable and a reflection of what we can achieve as a community. The success of this concert has laid the groundwork for making it an annual community service project, fostering a tradition of giving and enjoyment.

We look forward to hosting similar events in the future, continually striving to make a positive impact while bringing our community together through the universal language of music.
