My Day on the Road: Unlocking Opportunities for LAA Service Partners
You know, some days at the Lubbock Apartment Association office are a whirlwind of calls and emails—but then there are those days that truly remind me why I love what we do.
I'm Jamie, and I have the privilege of working with our incredible LAA members every day. One particular day last year stands out in my memory—a "ride-along" with one of our fantastic service partners, Brock from CanTex Construction.
Why Ride-Alongs Matter
Brock is a sharp sales associate, and CanTex is a name synonymous with quality in our community. But even for an established company, breaking into new properties or deepening existing relationships can be a challenge.
That’s why LAA’s ride-along program exists. It’s one of those unique benefits that truly showcases the power of LAA membership—and the strength of West Texas connections.
The Mission: Cookies, Directories, and Connections
Brock arrived at the office that morning, not just with a property list, but with a contagious enthusiasm. He brought along beautifully branded swag bags—and a batch of delicious chocolate chip cookies. My kind of partner!
Our mission was simple: check in with member properties, deliver the newly printed Membership Directory, and introduce Brock and CanTex in a way that felt genuine and personal—not like a sales pitch.
Our first stop was a large property on the south side. I handed the directory to Maria, the property manager, and introduced Brock as a fellow LAA member. Her face lit up. That shared connection made the conversation easy, authentic, and effective.
The West Texas Way: Building Bridges of Trust
As we drove to our next stop, I told Brock, “That’s the West Texas way. Here, word-of-mouth and trust are everything. When I introduce you as an LAA member, it’s more than a handshake—it’s a bridge of credibility.”
Each visit that day reinforced that truth. It was also a chance for me to personally check in, remind members about their benefits, and drop off something sweet along the way.
And with over 565 members managing 32,000+ units across our region, these visits weren’t just friendly gestures—they were real business opportunities.
Beyond the Ride-Along: Full-Spectrum Support
Brock’s ride-along was just one part of what LAA offers to service partners. Membership provides value on every front:
The Membership Directory
This advertising powerhouse is trusted by decision-makers and viewed year-round. With both print longevity and digital reach, it's one of the most visible ways to stay top of mind.
Networking Events
From monthly luncheons to the Business Expo, these events are designed for building real connections and sparking word-of-mouth referrals.
Educational Opportunities
With hands-on workshops and nationally accredited certifications, service partners can stay ahead of industry trends and build credibility with clients.
Industry Advocacy
Through our affiliations with the Texas Apartment Association (TAA) and the National Apartment Association (NAA), we make sure your voice is heard at the local, state, and national level.
The Sweet Taste of Success
By the end of the day, Brock had made meaningful connections and gathered real insights. Later, CanTex Construction gained new clients and strengthened existing relationships thanks to those ride-along introductions.
This is what LAA is all about.
