For over four decades, the Lubbock Apartment Association has proudly brought the community together for the State of the City—an event where business leaders, elected officials, and engaged citizens gather to reflect, connect, and look ahead. Now in its 44th year, this tradition continues with Mayor Mark McBrayer’s second address as mayor of Lubbock.

About Mayor Mark McBrayer

A lifelong Lubbock resident, Mayor McBrayer’s leadership reflects the values that have shaped his life—faith, service, and community. After successful careers in ministry, business, and law, he now leads with a commitment to fiscal responsibility, strong infrastructure, public safety, and transparent governance. He and his wife, Cindy, raised their family here and continue to invest in the city they love.

Building on Momentum

Last year’s State of the City event drew a full house as Mayor McBrayer delivered a forward-thinking address focused on infrastructure, economic development, and quality of life. He shared updates on Lubbock’s job growth, public safety milestones, and the city’s ambitious 100-year water plan—including the development of Lake 7.

In 2025 alone:

• Over 2,500 new construction permits were issued.

• Lubbock’s labor force surpassed 174,000.

• The city maintained a 100% homicide clearance rate.

• Major road bond projects broke ground across multiple districts.

• Parks and recreation projects expanded in every council district.

With the support of attendees and sponsors, the event also contributed to the Guadalupe-Parkway Neighborhood Centers, continuing a long-standing tradition of giving back.
