Annual Association Events
General Membership Luncheons
Almost every month the Lubbock Apartment Association (LAA) hosts a luncheon at a local venue. All members of the association are encouraged to attend. These luncheons are a great way to meet other individuals in the multi-family housing industry and learn about the activities happening in the association. The meetings are informative and a lot of fun.
The Business Exchange is a unique event that allows businesses to have one-on-one interaction with apartment industry leaders. It has been described as a “reverse trade show”. Each participating business member is able to have approximately 10 minutes with each decision maker to discuss his or her products and services.
Periodically LAA hosts an Education Conference for the membership. The Education Conference has top ranked seminars, with national speakers, which cover a variety of topics for owners, management, maintenance, housekeeping and Product Service members.
Yearly Education Events
Each year LAA offers several certification classes. CAPS – Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor, CAM – Certified Apartment Manager, NALP – National Apartment Leasing Specialist, CAMT – Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technician, CAS – Certified Apartment Supplier. These certifications can be taken on location or online through the Association.
State of the City Address
LAA is thrilled every year to have the current Mayor of Lubbock give the State of the City Address to our membership. LAA has hosted the State of the City for 34 years and welcomes the entire City of Lubbock to attend. The luncheon is the first opportunity for the Mayor to recap the city’s condition and activities from the previous year. In 2015, we had over 500 attend this event.
Installation of Officers Banquet
Early in the year LAA holds an Installation of Officers Banquet. This is an elegant evening that highlights the past year’s activities and leadership. The Texas Apartment Association President usually installs the new Board of Directors and officers.
Maintenance Mania Competition
Maintenance Mania is a national competition where maintenance technicians are able to compete against each other in various skill-based games and they also compete in a race car building competition. Competitors can participate in events at the local level which will qualify them for National Competition that is held at the annual NAA Education Conference & Exposition.
Every spring a Golf Tournament is held at a local country club. This is a fun day for golfers and non-golfers alike to network and enjoy some friendly competition and prizes. The day is packed with different activities and opportunities for you to market your company.
On alternating years LAA hosts either a REDBOOK SEMINAR or a FAIR HOUSING SEMINAR to ensure that everyone has up-to-date information concerning the legalities involved in the rental industry.
